Glyconutrients and Atazanavir, Cobicistat

We checked these two against our interaction database. Here is what we found.

No Known Interaction Found

We did not find a documented interaction between Atazanavir, Cobicistat and Glyconutrients in our sources. This does not guarantee that the combination is completely free of risk — there is often limited research on supplements and herbal products, especially around drug interactions.

If you decide to take both, the practical routine is simple: add one new thing at a time and note the date you started it. If the combination is going to disagree with you, it usually shows in the first days to a couple of weeks — and a start date turns “I’ve been feeling off” into something a pharmacist can actually work with. Do not stop a prescribed medicine on your own.

Always talk with your pharmacist or doctor before making changes to your medications or supplements, particularly if you take several medications or have an ongoing health condition.

Safety guidance is general; always confirm with your pharmacist or doctor for your situation.

How we checked

Why No Interaction Is Listed for Atazanavir, Cobicistat

Interactions in our licensed database are recorded against drug classes, not just single drug names. Atazanavir, Cobicistat is filed under 7 classifications — including protease inhibitors (pis), cytochrome p450 2c9 (cyp2c9) inhibitors, cytochrome p450 1a2 (cyp1a2) inhibitors. Glyconutrients has documented interactions with 1 drug class — the most serious being immunosuppressants (moderate) — and none of Atazanavir, Cobicistat’s classifications are among them.

Classification data comes from our licensed Natural Medicines dataset. A medication can belong to classes beyond those recorded there, so this describes how the check was run — it is not a safety guarantee.

What Glyconutrients Itself Has Been Linked To

This is not an interaction — nothing below involves Atazanavir, Cobicistat. It is the side-effect record for Glyconutrients on its own, from the licensed Natural Medicines monograph. If something new turns up after you add Glyconutrients, this list is the first place to look.

Everything above comes from the Natural Medicines adverse-effect record for Glyconutrients — expand a row for the licensed statement it rests on. We read the ADVERSE REACTIONS section of Atazanavir, Cobicistat’s FDA label too, and the two lists don’t meaningfully overlap — which is why no Atazanavir, Cobicistat column appears here.

How to take them

Some Atazanavir, Cobicistat Products Have a Food Rule — Glyconutrients Should Not Break It

At least one FDA label for a product containing Atazanavir, Cobicistat says to take it with food. If you take Glyconutrients on an empty stomach out of habit, keep them separate — and take Atazanavir, Cobicistat with a meal where the label says to.

This may not be true of your version. Food instructions belong to the product, not the ingredient: two Atazanavir, Cobicistat products can carry different directions, and extended-release forms often differ from immediate-release ones. The label we read is quoted below — check the directions on your own box or bottle, or ask your pharmacist, for how to take the exact product you were given.

(2.1) • Recommended dosage: One tablet once daily, taken orally with food in adults and pediatric patients weighing at least 35 kg.

From the Dosage and Administration section of the FDA label we read for Atazanavir, Cobicistat — where that label names a specific product, the instruction is that product's. See the Atazanavir, Cobicistat drug page ›

A food rule is not an interaction — it is about how much of the medicine you absorb. The directions that came with your own product, and your pharmacist, outrank anything on this page.

“Evotaz (atazanavir with cobicistat) treats HIV, and its effectiveness depends on steady blood levels, so I read this list of 152 supplements and herbs carefully rather than casually. Only three carry a major rating, but those three deserve your attention first: St.”

About Glyconutrients

What is Glyconutrients?

  • General immune support
  • Overall wellness and energy
  • Cognitive or memory support
  • Inflammation
  • Digestive health

Glyconutrients are supplements containing certain sugar molecules (monosaccharides) that marketers claim are essential for cell communication and health. The science behind most health claims is weak and largely promotional, and your body already makes these sugars from a normal diet. They are generally low-risk, but talk to your pharmacist or doctor before using them, and don't rely on them to treat any disease.

Not a single plant; refined sugars (monosaccharides) from sources like aloe vera, gums, larch, mushrooms, and seaweeds · Capsules, powders, chewable tablets, drink mixes

An interaction check asks whether these two react with each other — it does not ask whether Glyconutrients is a good idea for someone in your situation. Here is what our Glyconutrients record says about it on its own.

Glyconutrients: dosing

There is no official or standardized dose for glyconutrients. Products differ widely in their ingredients and strength, so a single recommended amount does not exist. If you choose to try one, follow the directions on the product label and do not take more than suggested. Choose products from reputable brands that use third-party testing when possible.

About Atazanavir and Cobicistat

What Is Atazanavir and Cobicistat Used For?

Brand name: Evotaz

Evotaz (atazanavir/cobicistat) is used to treat HIV-1 infection. It must always be taken together with other antiretroviral medicines — it is not a complete regimen on its own. It is approved for adults and for pediatric patients who weigh at least 35 kg.

In patients who have been on HIV treatment before (treatment-experienced), how well Evotaz works depends on how much resistance to protease inhibitors the virus has already developed. Your prescriber will review this before starting you on Evotaz.
