Amobarbital, Secobarbital falls under CNS DEPRESSANTS — the group Goldenseal interacts with.

Theoretically, goldenseal might increase the sedative effects of CNS depressants.
Goldenseal contains berberine. Animal research shows that berberine can have sedative effects. However, this effect has not been reported in humans.

Tuinal combines two barbiturates (amobarbital and secobarbital), which are strong sedatives that already slow down the brain and nervous system. The concern here is that goldenseal contains berberine, and in animal studies berberine appeared to have its own mild sedating effect. Stacked on top of a barbiturate, that could in theory deepen the drowsiness, leaving you more groggy, dizzy, or slow to wake up.

I want to be honest about the strength of this one: it's theoretical. This added sleepiness has been seen in lab animals, not reported in people. Still, since barbiturates are powerful drugs with a narrow safety margin, I'd play it safe and check with your pharmacist or doctor before pairing them with goldenseal.
