Insulin (rDNA) falls under ANTIDIABETES DRUGS — the group Goldenseal interacts with.

Theoretically, goldenseal might increase the risk of hypoglycemia when used with antidiabetes drugs.
Goldenseal contains berberine. Clinical research shows that berberine can lower blood glucose levels. However, this effect has not been reported with goldenseal.

Here's the basic idea with goldenseal and your insulin. Goldenseal contains a compound called berberine, and in studies berberine on its own has nudged blood sugar a little lower. Since insulin already does the heavy lifting of bringing your glucose down, stacking something that may also lower it could, in theory, push you too low. That can show up as shakiness, sweating, dizziness, confusion, a fast heartbeat, or feeling suddenly hungry.

I want to be honest about the strength of this one. It's theoretical, based on how berberine behaves, and this blood-sugar effect hasn't actually been reported with goldenseal itself. So it's worth being aware of, not alarmed by. If you do add goldenseal, check your sugars a bit more closely at first and loop in your doctor or pharmacist before changing any insulin dose.

What Is Insulin Lispro Injection Used For?

Brand names: Humalog, Humalog Mix 75/25, Humulin R, Humulin N, Humulin L, Humulin 50/50, Humulin 70/30, Humulin U, NovoLog, Velosulin, Novolog Mix 70/30, Actrapid, Humulin S, Insuman Rapid

Insulin lispro injection is used to improve glycemic control (blood sugar management) in people with diabetes mellitus. It is a rapid-acting insulin analog approved for use in both type 1 and type 2 diabetes.

Admelog is specifically indicated to improve glycemic control in patients with diabetes mellitus. Humalog Mix75/25 is indicated to improve glycemic control in adults with diabetes mellitus; it is a fixed-ratio mixture of insulin lispro and insulin lispro protamine, and its fixed proportions do not allow for separate adjustment of basal (background) and prandial (mealtime) doses.
