Diphenhydramine, Pseudoephedrine falls under CNS DEPRESSANTS — the group Goldenseal interacts with.

Theoretically, goldenseal might increase the sedative effects of CNS depressants.
Goldenseal contains berberine. Animal research shows that berberine can have sedative effects. However, this effect has not been reported in humans.

Actifed Allergy is a combo product: diphenhydramine is a sedating antihistamine that often makes people drowsy, while pseudoephedrine is a decongestant that can be a little stimulating. The concern here is mostly with the diphenhydramine side. Goldenseal contains berberine, which has shown mild sedative effects in animal studies. The idea is that, in theory, goldenseal could add to the sleepiness diphenhydramine already causes.

I want to be honest: this is a theoretical concern only, based on lab and animal work, and it has not been reported in people. Still, if you notice extra grogginess, foggy thinking, or feeling more tired than usual, that is worth mentioning. Before pairing these, just check with your pharmacist or doctor.
