Ketoprofen falls under ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS — the group Goldenseal interacts with.

Theoretically, goldenseal might increase the risk of bleeding when used with anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs.
Goldenseal contains berberine. In vitro and animal research shows that berberine can inhibit platelet aggregation. However, this effect has not been reported in humans.

Here's the situation with goldenseal and ketoprofen. Ketoprofen is an NSAID, and like other drugs in that family, it already nudges your bleeding risk up a bit by making platelets (the cells that help you clot) less sticky. Goldenseal contains berberine, which in lab dishes and animal studies also seems to slow platelets down. Put the two together and the worry is that bleeding could become a little easier to trigger.

The good news: this is theoretical. The platelet effect from berberine hasn't actually been shown in people, so it's based on pharmacology, not real-world reports. Still, keep an eye out for things like easy bruising, nosebleeds, bleeding gums, or dark stools, and check with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.

What Is Ketoprofen Used For?

Brand names: Orudis, Oruvail Gel, Powergel, Oruvail Injection

Ketoprofen capsules (including the brand Orudis) are used to manage the signs and symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis, to treat pain, and to treat primary dysmenorrhea (painful menstrual periods).

Ketoprofen extended-release capsules are approved for rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis only. Because of the way they slowly release the drug, ketoprofen extended-release capsules are not recommended for treating acute (sudden) pain.
