Here's the thing to keep in mind: Brexanolone (Zulresso) already has a strong calming effect on the brain, and one of its known issues is heavy sedation. In fact, it's given in a monitored setting because it can cause people to feel very sleepy or even pass out suddenly. Gotu kola may add to that drowsiness, since lab studies hint it can nudge the same calming GABA system in the brain.

I'll be honest with you, this concern is theoretical and comes from test-tube research, not real patients, so we don't know how big a deal it is. Still, since Brexanolone is given during a closely watched infusion, it's worth telling your care team about any gotu kola you take so they can keep an eye on your sleepiness.
