Here's the simple version: secobarbital (Seconal) already works by quieting down your brain to help you fall asleep, and gotu kola may have its own mild calming effect by acting on the same GABA pathways. Stack the two together and you could, in theory, feel more sedated than you bargained for. Think extra drowsiness, grogginess, dizziness, slowed breathing, and feeling foggy or unsteady the next morning.

I want to be honest about the strength of this concern. It's based mostly on lab and test-tube research, not real-world cases, so it's more of a theoretical caution than a proven problem. Still, secobarbital is a strong sleep medicine, so before adding gotu kola, please run it by your pharmacist or doctor first.
