Tebentafusp-tebn falls under HEPATOTOXIC DRUGS — the group Gotu Kola interacts with.

Theoretically, taking gotu kola with hepatotoxic drugs might have additive adverse effects.
There are at least four case reports of hepatotoxicity associated with the use of gotu kola. However, more information is needed to determine if gotu kola was the causative factor in these cases.

Here's the simple version: this isn't about gotu kola changing how Kimmtrak works in your body. Instead, it's about both being potentially hard on your liver at the same time. Kimmtrak can raise liver enzymes and cause liver-related side effects as part of its immune-activating treatment, and your oncology team already watches your liver labs closely because of that.

Gotu kola has been tied to a small number of liver injury reports, though we honestly can't say for sure it was the cause. The worry is simply adding one liver stress on top of another. This is theoretical and based on weak, anecdotal evidence, so don't panic. Still, while you're on Kimmtrak, please check with your oncologist or pharmacist before adding gotu kola.

About Tebentafusp injection

What Is Tebentafusp injection Used For?

Brand name: Kimmtrak

Kimmtrak (tebentafusp) is used to treat adults with unresectable or metastatic uveal melanoma — a type of melanoma that starts in the eye and cannot be surgically removed or has spread to other parts of the body. Patients must test positive for a specific genetic marker called HLA-A*02:01 to be eligible for this treatment.

A companion diagnostic test on a blood sample is required before starting Kimmtrak to confirm that a patient carries the HLA-A*02:01 marker. Only patients who test positive are candidates for this therapy.
