Grape + Flecainide
Flecainide brand name: Tambocor.
Grape has a moderate interaction with Flecainide. Theoretically, grape seed extract may increase the levels of CYP2D6 substrates.

Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
CYTOCHROME P450 2D6 (CYP2D6) SUBSTRATES
Why this applies to Flecainide
Flecainide falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2D6 (CYP2D6) SUBSTRATES — the group Grape interacts with.
In vitro evidence suggests that grape seed extract might inhibit CYP2D6 enzymes. However, this interaction has not been reported in humans.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the gist for flecainide: your body relies on a liver enzyme called CYP2D6 to help clear it out. Lab studies hint that concentrated grape seed extract might slow that enzyme down. If that happened in a real person, flecainide could build up a bit more than expected. Since flecainide is an active drug (not a prodrug), more of it sticking around means a stronger effect, and possibly more side effects like dizziness, blurred vision, a slow or fluttery heartbeat, or shortness of breath.
The good news: this is only a theoretical concern from test-tube work, never actually reported in people. Still, flecainide is a heart-rhythm drug with little wiggle room, so check with your pharmacist or doctor before adding a grape supplement. Eating grapes is fine.

“Flecainide (Tambocor) exists to control serious heart rhythm problems, so anything that disturbs the rhythm it protects deserves genuine caution. About Grape
What is Grape?
- Antioxidant support
- Heart and circulation health
- Vein problems (such as varicose veins)
- Eye health
- General anti-inflammatory support
Grapes and grape products like grape seed extract contain antioxidant compounds such as resveratrol and proanthocyanidins that may support heart and blood vessel health. While the food is healthy and generally safe, the supplement evidence for treating specific conditions is mostly limited or preliminary. Talk with your pharmacist or doctor before starting a grape supplement.
About Flecainide
What Is Flecainide Used For?
Brand name: Tambocor
Flecainide acetate tablets help prevent abnormal fast heart rhythms in people without structural heart disease. These include paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardias (PSVT) and paroxysmal atrial fibrillation/flutter (PAF) that cause disabling symptoms.
Flecainide acetate tablets are also used to prevent documented ventricular arrhythmias, such as sustained ventricular tachycardia, that a physician judges to be life-threatening. It is not recommended for less severe ventricular arrhythmias, even if they cause symptoms.
