Here's the simple version. Tussionex already pulls double duty when it comes to making you sleepy. The hydrocodone is an opioid, and chlorpheniramine is a sedating antihistamine, so this cough syrup can leave you drowsy, foggy, and slow to react on its own. In one animal study, a guarumo leaf extract calmed the nervous system and caused muscle relaxation and poor coordination. So in theory, pairing the two could pile sedation on top of sedation.

I want to be honest about the evidence: this is based only on animal data, not real human reports, so it's a theoretical concern rather than a proven one. Still, if you notice extra grogginess, dizziness, or trouble staying alert, that's worth taking seriously. Please run this combo by your pharmacist or doctor before mixing them.
