Here's the simple version: doxepin already works by calming down brain activity to help you sleep, and that's exactly why it can leave you feeling groggy, drowsy, or unsteady. Guarumo, in an animal study, also seemed to quiet the nervous system and caused some clumsiness and muscle relaxation. So the worry is that stacking the two could add up to more sedation than you bargained for, things like next-morning grogginess, dizziness, or feeling off-balance.

I want to be honest about the evidence here: this is based on lab and animal work, not real-world cases in people, so it's theoretical and not a sure thing. Still, since both can pull you in the same sleepy direction, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.
