Elotuzumab falls under HEPATOTOXIC DRUGS — the group Hemp Agrimony interacts with.

Hemp agrimony contains hepatotoxic pyrrolizidine alkaloids (PA). Theoretically, using hemp agrimony with hepatotoxic drugs might have additive adverse effects on the liver. Some drugs that can adversely affect the liver include acetaminophen (Tylenol and others), amiodarone (Cordarone), carbamazepine (Tegretol), isoniazid (INH), methotrexate (Rheumatrex), methyldopa (Aldomet), fluconazole (Diflucan), itraconazole (Sporanox), erythromycin (Erythrocin, Ilosone, others), phenytoin (Dilantin), lovastatin (Mevacor), pravastatin (Pravachol), simvastatin (Zocor), and many others.

Here's the gist with Empliciti (elotuzumab): this is an antibody infusion for multiple myeloma, and it isn't broken down by liver enzymes the way many pills are. So there's no enzyme tug-of-war happening here. The concern is simpler: hemp agrimony can contain pyrrolizidine alkaloids, which are known to be hard on the liver. The worry is that the liver stress could add up on top of your cancer treatment.

Honestly, this is a theoretical caution drawn from how these plant compounds behave, not from real cases with this drug. Still, hemp agrimony is generally one to avoid taking internally because of the liver risk. Since you're already on a serious treatment regimen, please run any hemp agrimony product past your oncology team or pharmacist first.

What Is Elotuzumab Injection Used For?

Brand name: Empliciti

Empliciti is used to treat multiple myeloma (a cancer of plasma cells in the bone marrow) in adults who have already tried other treatments. It is always given as part of a combination regimen — never alone.

Empliciti combined with lenalidomide and dexamethasone is used in adults who have received one to three prior therapies. Empliciti combined with pomalidomide and dexamethasone is used in adults who have received at least two prior therapies, including lenalidomide and a proteasome inhibitor.
