Higenamine + Effient
Effient brand name: Prasugrel.
Effient falls into 2 drug categories that Higenamine can interact with; the most serious is rated moderate. Theoretically, higenamine might increase the levels and clinical effects drugs metabolized by CYP3A4.

These two interact in 2 distinct ways. Each one is explained separately below.
Why Are There 2 Interactions?
Higenamine interacts with whole categories of medication. Effient falls into 2 of those categories, so it can interact with Higenamine in 2 different ways. We’ve listed each one below — your overall risk is driven by the most serious of them (Moderate).
CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES
1 of 2Why this applies to Effient
Effient falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Higenamine interacts with.
In vitro research shows that higenamine inhibits CYP3A4 enzymes by 21%. However, this effect has not been reported in humans.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the thing about Effient (prasugrel): it's actually a prodrug, meaning your body has to convert it into its active form before it can thin your blood. CYP3A4 is one of the enzymes that helps switch it on. Higenamine has been shown in lab dishes to mildly block CYP3A4 (by about 21%), and in theory that could slow how much active drug you make, possibly making Effient a little less effective at preventing clots.
But I want to keep this in perspective. This is only test-tube data, it has never been seen in real people, and prasugrel has several backup activation pathways, so the practical effect is likely small. My bigger concern with higenamine is its stimulant effect on your heart and blood pressure, which isn't ideal after a heart attack. Please run this by your pharmacist or cardiologist before using it.

ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS
2 of 2Effient also falls under ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS.
Animal research shows that higenamine inhibits platelet aggregation and reduces the size of thrombus formation.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Effient (prasugrel) already does one main job: it keeps your platelets from sticking together so you don't form dangerous clots after a heart procedure. The catch is that this same action raises your bleeding risk, which is why bruising and longer bleeding times are common with it.
Here's where higenamine comes in. In animal studies, it also seems to slow platelets down. So stacking it on top of Effient could, in theory, add to that blood-thinning effect and make bleeding or bruising a bit more likely. I want to be honest though: this is theoretical, based on lab and animal data, not solid human studies. Given that Effient is already a strong antiplatelet drug, I'd skip higenamine and run it by your pharmacist or cardiologist first.

What These Ratings Mean
Every interaction above is graded three ways — here’s the key to each label.
Clinically significant. Avoid the combination, or use only under close professional supervision.
Usually worth avoiding or managing — may need monitoring, a dose change, or timing apart.
Generally not serious. Be aware of it and mention it to your pharmacist.
- LikelyWell-controlled human studies have demonstrated the likely existence of this interaction.
- ProbableInteraction has not been documented in well-controlled studies, however, the interaction has been demonstrated in some small human studies or in controlled animal studies in conjunction with multiple case reports.
- PossibleInteraction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
- UnlikelyInteraction has been demonstrated in animal or in lab research but has been shown not to occur in humans.
- AHigh-quality meta-analysis (quantitative systematic review).
- BCase-control study.
- CConsensus.

By severity: 5 major · 248 moderate · 42 minor.
From our pharmacist’s overview on the Effient page
“Effient (prasugrel) keeps platelets from forming clots, usually after a stent or a heart attack, and I would not pair supplements with it casually. Roughly 200 ingredients on this list can thin the blood further and raise bleeding risk, including two of the five rated major.”

About Higenamine
What is Higenamine?
- Weight loss and fat burning
- Pre-workout energy and performance
- Appetite suppression
- Athletic stimulant
- Traditional medicine remedies
Higenamine is a plant-based stimulant compound added to many weight-loss and pre-workout supplements, but there is very little human evidence that it works and real concerns about heart and blood pressure effects. It is banned in sports by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), and product labels often list inaccurate amounts, so most people should approach it with caution and talk to a pharmacist or doctor first.
About Prasugrel
What Is Prasugrel Used For?
Brand name: Prasugrel
Prasugrel is used to reduce blood clot–related heart events, including clots forming in a stent (stent thrombosis). It is for people with acute coronary syndrome who are going to be treated with percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI, a procedure to open blocked heart arteries).
This includes people with unstable angina or a non-ST-elevation heart attack (NSTEMI), and people with an ST-elevation heart attack (STEMI) treated with primary or delayed PCI. Both Effient and generic Prasugrel tablets carry this use.
