Sertraline falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Higenamine interacts with.

Theoretically, higenamine might increase the levels and clinical effects drugs metabolized by CYP3A4.
In vitro research shows that higenamine inhibits CYP3A4 enzymes by 21%. However, this effect has not been reported in humans.

Here's the short version: in a lab dish, higenamine slowed down a liver enzyme called CYP3A4 by about 21%. Sertraline (Zoloft) is partly cleared by that same enzyme, so in theory, blocking it could let a bit more sertraline linger in your system. That might mean stronger effects or more of the usual side effects, like nausea, jitteriness, trouble sleeping, or an upset stomach.

I want to be honest with you though: this has only been seen in a test tube, never in real people, and a 21% dip is fairly mild. What worries me more is higenamine itself, since it acts like adrenaline and can bump up your heart rate and blood pressure. Please run this combo by your pharmacist or doctor before mixing them.

Higenamine is a plant-based stimulant compound added to many weight-loss and pre-workout supplements, but there is very little human evidence that it works and real concerns about heart and blood pressure effects. What Is Sertraline Used For?

Brand name: Zoloft

Sertraline treats a range of mental health conditions. All formulations are approved for major depressive disorder (MDD) in adults and obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). The oral solution (including Zoloft oral solution) and several tablet formulations are also approved for panic disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), social anxiety disorder, and premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD).

For OCD specifically, the capsule formulations and some tablet products are approved for use in adults and children aged 6 and older. Sertraline hydrochloride tablets (plain, not film-coated) are approved for OCD in pediatric patients as well. However, sertraline is not approved for major depressive disorder in children — only in adults.
