Honeysuckle + Minocycline
Minocycline brand names: Vectrin, Dynacin, Minocin, Minocin IV, Solodyn, and others.
Honeysuckle has a moderate interaction with Minocycline. Theoretically, honeysuckle might increase the risk of bleeding when taken with anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs.

Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS
Why this applies to Minocycline
Minocycline falls under ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS — the group Honeysuckle interacts with.
In vitro research shows that polyphenols extracted from honeysuckle can inhibit platelet aggregation.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's something worth knowing about this pairing. The interaction we have on file groups minocycline with blood thinners, because some antibiotics can nudge bleeding risk a little. With honeysuckle, the concern is that lab studies (test-tube, not people) suggest its plant compounds may make platelets slightly less sticky, which could in theory add to a bleeding tendency.
The honest truth is this evidence is very early and weak, based only on test-tube work, so I wouldn't lose sleep over a cup of honeysuckle tea while taking minocycline for an infection or acne. Just keep an eye out for easy bruising, nosebleeds, or bleeding gums, and if you take an actual blood thinner too, check with your pharmacist or doctor first.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Minocycline page
“This is one of the longer interaction lists I review, and with minocycline it earns real care rather than a shrug. Most entries pair this tetracycline antibiotic, taken for acne and other infections, with supplements that raise bleeding risk, and a second sizable group, beer and wine included, can add strain on the liver.”

About Honeysuckle
What is Honeysuckle?
- Colds and sore throat
- Fever
- Inflammation
- Skin rashes and sores
- Digestive upset
Honeysuckle, especially Japanese honeysuckle flower (Lonicera japonica), is a staple of traditional Chinese medicine used mainly for colds, sore throat, and inflammation. Modern human evidence for these uses is limited, so it should be seen as a traditional remedy rather than a proven treatment. It is generally well tolerated as a tea, but talk to your pharmacist or doctor before using it, especially if you are pregnant, nursing, or taking other medicines.
About Minocycline
What Is Minocycline Used For?
Brand names: Vectrin, Dynacin, Minocin, Minocin IV, Solodyn, Acnamino MR, Minocin MR, Sebomin MR, Aknemin, Arestin Miscrosperes, Amzeeq, Zilxi
Minocycline is mainly used for infections caused by susceptible bacteria. Oral capsules and tablets, and Minocin intravenous (IV), are labeled for many infections. These include rickettsial infections such as Rocky Mountain spotted fever, Mycoplasma pneumoniae respiratory infections, chlamydia-related infections, plague, tularemia, cholera and brucellosis (with streptomycin). Some gram-negative bacterial infections are included when lab testing shows the bacteria respond.
Other minocycline products are not for infections at all. Extended-release tablets (including Minolira) treat inflammatory acne lesions in patients 12 and older. Amzeeq foam treats inflammatory acne in patients 9 and older. Zilxi foam and Emrosi capsules treat inflammatory rosacea lesions in adults. Arestin is placed in gum pockets by a dental professional for adult periodontitis.
