Naproxen, Sumatriptan falls under CYTOCHROME P450 1A2 (CYP1A2) SUBSTRATES — the group Horny Goat Weed interacts with.

Theoretically, horny goat weed might increase the effects and side effects of CYP1A2 substrates.
In vitro, horny goat weed leaf extract inhibits CYP1A2. This effect has not been reported in humans.

Treximet combines two active drugs: naproxen (an anti-inflammatory) and sumatriptan (a migraine medicine). Both are already active, so neither one needs an enzyme to switch it on. The concern here is that in a test-tube study, horny goat weed slowed down a liver enzyme called CYP1A2, which helps your body clear certain medicines. If that enzyme works slower, these drugs could linger a bit longer and their effects, good and bad, could be amplified.

In practice this might mean more naproxen-type side effects (stomach upset, heartburn) or more sumatriptan-type effects (drowsiness, flushing, chest tightness, dizziness). That said, this has only been seen in lab dishes, never in real people, so the real-world risk is uncertain. Still, it's worth running past your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.

Here's the connection worth knowing. Treximet combines naproxen (an NSAID) with sumatriptan. Naproxen, like other NSAIDs, already has a mild blood-thinning effect because it makes platelets a little less sticky and can irritate the stomach lining. In lab and animal studies, horny goat weed showed a similar action, slowing how platelets clump together. Stack the two and, in theory, you could nudge up the risk of bruising or bleeding, including stomach upset or, less commonly, a GI bleed.

The reassuring part: this bleeding effect from horny goat weed has only been seen in test tubes and animals, never confirmed in people, so the real-world concern is low. Still, since naproxen carries its own bleeding risk, it's smart to run this combo by your pharmacist or doctor first.
