Beetroot is rich in nitrates, which have the potential to widen blood vessels (vasodilation) and, in turn, possibly lower blood pressure. While there is a theoretical concern about the nitrate content in beets causing a blood pressure drop, research consistently indicates that any impact is generally minor and short-lived. However, it's crucial to be aware that blood pressure medications alone can cause dizziness and lightheadedness. Combining them with beet supplements might heighten the risk of experiencing these side effects due to the temporary vasodilation caused by the nitrates in beet.

Here's the simple version for Bosentan (Tracleer). Bosentan already works by relaxing and opening up blood vessels to ease the pressure in your lungs. The beetroot nitrates in SuperBeets Heart Chews do something in the same general direction, helping blood vessels widen a bit. So when you stack them together, the main thing to watch for is a little extra blood-pressure lowering, which can show up as dizziness, lightheadedness, or feeling flushed or tired, especially when you stand up quickly.

The good news: the evidence shows the nitrate effect is usually mild and short-lived, so this is rated a minor interaction. Most people do fine. Just stand up slowly at first, and check with your pharmacist or doctor before adding the chews, since they're already managing your PAH closely.

Each serving of HumanN SuperBeets includes 150mg of grape seed extract (2 chews). Laboratory studies suggest that grape seed extract might have inhibitory effects on the CYP3A4 metabolizing enzyme. If this enzyme is inhibited, drugs metabolized by it may undergo slower metabolism, potentially leading to (in many cases) higher-than-normal drug levels. Elevated drug levels can increase the risk of experiencing side effects. However, it's important to point out that there is no documented or reported instance of this specific interaction occurring in human studies.

Here's the gist with Bosentan (Tracleer) and these chews. Your liver uses an enzyme called CYP3A4 to help clear bosentan. The grape seed extract in SuperBeets (about 150mg per two chews) has shown some ability to slow that enzyme down in lab dish studies. In theory, if it slowed CYP3A4 in your body too, bosentan could build up a bit and you might notice more of its usual effects, like headache, flushing, swelling in the legs, or feeling lightheaded.

I want to be honest though: this concern comes only from lab work, and there's no real-world report of it actually happening in people. The interaction is rated minor and unlikely. Still, bosentan needs careful monitoring (including liver tests), so check with your pharmacist or doctor before adding these chews.

What Is Bosentan Used For?

Brand name: Tracleer

Bosentan is used to treat pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) — high blood pressure in the arteries of the lungs. In adults, it helps improve the ability to exercise and slows how quickly the disease gets worse.

In children aged 3 years and older with idiopathic (no known cause) or congenital (present from birth) PAH, bosentan is used to lower resistance in the lung blood vessels, which is expected to improve exercise ability. Tracleer is one brand approved for both adults and pediatric patients with PAH.
