Mannitol falls under Antihypertensive Drugs — the group Humann Superbeets Heart Chews interacts with.

Each serving of HumanN SuperBeets includes 500mg of beetroot powder (2 chews). Beetroot is rich in nitrates, which have the potential to widen blood vessels (vasodilation) and, in turn, possibly lower blood pressure. While there is a theoretical concern about the nitrate content in beets causing a blood pressure drop, research consistently indicates that any impact is generally minor and short-lived. However, it's crucial to be aware that blood pressure medications alone can cause dizziness and lightheadedness. Combining them with beet supplements might heighten the risk of experiencing these side effects due to the temporary vasodilation caused by the nitrates in beet.

Here's the thing about Mannitol: it's not your typical blood pressure pill that you take at home. It's an osmotic diuretic given in the hospital through an IV, usually to pull fluid out of the brain (to lower pressure after an injury) or out of the eyes, and sometimes to help kidney output. The version called Bronchitol is actually inhaled to help with cystic fibrosis. So while our database files it under antihypertensive-type drugs, it's really used in controlled medical settings.

The beet nitrates in SuperBeets can cause a mild, short-lived widening of blood vessels. On their own, that effect is small. But Mannitol shifts a lot of fluid around and can already cause dizziness or low blood pressure, so adding a vasodilating supplement could, in theory, add a little to that. Since Mannitol is given by your care team, just let them know about any supplements you take. Don't start or stop anything on your own.
