Trabectedin falls under Cytochrome P450 3A4 (Cyp3A4) Substrates — the group Humann Superbeets Heart Chews interacts with.

Each serving of HumanN SuperBeets includes 150mg of grape seed extract (2 chews). Laboratory studies suggest that grape seed extract might have inhibitory effects on the CYP3A4 metabolizing enzyme. If this enzyme is inhibited, drugs metabolized by it may undergo slower metabolism, potentially leading to (in many cases) higher-than-normal drug levels. Elevated drug levels can increase the risk of experiencing side effects. However, it's important to point out that there is no documented or reported instance of this specific interaction occurring in human studies.

Here's the gist for Trabectedin (Yondelis). This chemo drug is cleared by a liver enzyme called CYP3A4. The grape seed extract in SuperBeets Heart Chews (about 150mg per serving) has shown some ability to slow that enzyme down in lab dishes. In theory, if CYP3A4 worked slower, trabectedin could hang around at higher levels, which might bump up its known side effects like nausea, fatigue, low blood counts, and stress on the liver.

That said, I want to keep this in perspective. This is a theoretical, lab-based concern with no real cases reported in people, and it's rated minor and unlikely. Still, trabectedin is a serious chemo drug, so don't add any new supplement without first clearing it with your oncology team or pharmacist.

Yondelis (trabectedin injection) is used to treat adults with liposarcoma or leiomyosarcoma — two types of soft tissue sarcoma (cancer of connective tissue) — when the cancer cannot be removed by surgery (unresectable) or has spread to other parts of the body (metastatic). It is indicated for patients who have already received a prior treatment regimen containing an anthracycline (a type of chemotherapy).
