Vinblastine falls under Cytochrome P450 3A4 (Cyp3A4) Substrates — the group Humann Superbeets Heart Chews interacts with.

Each serving of HumanN SuperBeets includes 150mg of grape seed extract (2 chews). Laboratory studies suggest that grape seed extract might have inhibitory effects on the CYP3A4 metabolizing enzyme. If this enzyme is inhibited, drugs metabolized by it may undergo slower metabolism, potentially leading to (in many cases) higher-than-normal drug levels. Elevated drug levels can increase the risk of experiencing side effects. However, it's important to point out that there is no documented or reported instance of this specific interaction occurring in human studies.

Here's the gist for Vinblastine. Your body clears this chemo drug partly through a liver enzyme called CYP3A4. The grape seed extract in SuperBeets Heart Chews (about 150mg per two chews) has shown some ability to slow that same enzyme in lab dish studies. In theory, if that enzyme is slowed, vinblastine could clear a little more slowly and build up, which might mean more of its usual side effects like low blood counts, nausea, constipation, or nerve tingling in the hands and feet.

I want to be straight with you though: this is only a lab-based, theoretical concern, rated minor and unlikely, with no real human cases reported. Still, because vinblastine is potent chemotherapy, please run any new supplement by your oncologist or pharmacist first before using these chews.

What Is Vinblastine Used For?

Vinblastine Sulfate Injection is used in the treatment of a range of cancers. Conditions that tend to respond well include generalized Hodgkin's disease, lymphocytic lymphoma, histiocytic lymphoma, advanced mycosis fungoides (a type of skin lymphoma), advanced testicular cancer, Kaposi's sarcoma, and Letterer-Siwe disease (a rare immune condition also called histiocytosis X).

It may also be used for cancers that respond less reliably, such as choriocarcinoma resistant to other chemotherapy drugs, and breast cancer that has not responded to hormonal therapy. Vinblastine is often given as part of a combination chemotherapy regimen alongside other cancer medicines to improve response rates.
