Iboga and Belladonna, Ergotamine, Phenobarbital

Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.

Moderate

ANTICHOLINERGIC DRUGS

Why this applies to Belladonna, Ergotamine, Phenobarbital

Belladonna, Ergotamine, Phenobarbital falls under ANTICHOLINERGIC DRUGS — the group Iboga interacts with.

Theoretically, iboga might decrease the effectiveness of anticholinergic drugs.
In vitro research shows that iboga can inhibit acetylcholinesterase and might increase acetylcholine levels. However, the constituent ibogaine does not appear to have this effect.
Severity Moderate Likelihood Possible Evidence D

Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.

Dr. Brian Staiger explains PharmD, Clinical Pharmacist

Here is the idea behind this one. The belladonna part of Bellergal-S works by blocking acetylcholine, a nerve messenger. That blocking action is what calms certain symptoms. In lab dishes, Iboga has been shown to raise acetylcholine levels (by slowing the enzyme that breaks it down). If that happened in the body, it could push back against belladonna and make it work a little less well. So in theory you might notice the belladonna effect feels weaker.

A few honest caveats: this is only test-tube data, and ibogaine itself (Iboga's main compound) did not show this effect. On top of that, Iboga carries serious heart rhythm risks and is illegal here, so I would not combine the two. Please check with your pharmacist or doctor before mixing anything with Bellergal-S.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Belladonna, Ergotamine, Phenobarbital page

“Bellergal-S packs three drugs into one tablet, and its supplement list earns real respect before you mix in anything else. Phenobarbital is a sedating barbiturate, belladonna adds drying anticholinergic effects, and ergotamine constricts blood vessels, so this combination collects interactions from several directions at once.”
