ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS
Why this applies to Aspirin, Codeine Phosphate, Phenobarbital
Aspirin, Codeine Phosphate, Phenobarbital falls under ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS — the group Indian Long Pepper interacts with.
In vitro research shows that Indian long pepper extract inhibits platelet aggregation.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
This combination product contains aspirin, which already thins the blood by blocking platelets from clumping together. The concern here is with that aspirin piece. Lab studies suggest Indian long pepper may also make platelets less sticky on its own. Stack the two together and, in theory, you could nudge your bleeding risk a little higher than aspirin alone.
In real life, that might show up as easier bruising, nosebleeds, bleeding gums, or cuts that take longer to stop. I want to be honest though: this is based only on test-tube research, not human studies, so the actual risk for most people is uncertain. A pinch of the spice in food is unlikely to matter, but regular concentrated supplements are worth mentioning to your pharmacist or doctor before you combine them.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Aspirin, Codeine Phosphate, Phenobarbital page
“Alcohol is the entry I would flag first with Phenaphen (aspirin, codeine phosphate, phenobarbital): beer or wine layered onto codeine and phenobarbital can deepen sedation and, at worst, slow breathing. This medication deserves real caution with supplements.”
