STIMULANT DRUGS
Why this applies to Pseudoephedrine Sulfate
Pseudoephedrine Sulfate falls under STIMULANT DRUGS — the group Isopropylnorsynephrine interacts with.
Isopropylnorsynephrine is an investigational beta-agonist and a derivative of synephrine and octopamine, which are stimulant constituents of bitter orange. In vitro research shows that isopropylnorsynephrine is a highly selective, direct-acting beta-adrenergic receptor agonist with positive chronotropic effects. Theoretically, isopropylnorsynephrine may also have stimulant effects.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the simple version: both pseudoephedrine and isopropylnorsynephrine are stimulants. Pseudoephedrine narrows blood vessels to clear a stuffy nose, but it can also nudge up your heart rate and blood pressure. Isopropylnorsynephrine works on similar adrenergic receptors, so stacking the two could pile those effects on top of each other.
What might you feel? A racing or pounding heart, jitteriness, trouble sleeping, headache, or a bump in blood pressure. Keep in mind this is a theoretical concern based on how these compounds behave, not solid human studies, and the supplement itself has very little safety research. Pseudoephedrine is not a prodrug here, so the worry is simply additive stimulation. If you take blood pressure or heart medicines, please check with your pharmacist or doctor first.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Pseudoephedrine Sulfate page
“Most people reach for pseudoephedrine (Afrinol, Drixoral N.D.) for a stuffy nose without much thought, often with their usual coffee, tea, or a weight-loss supplement nearby, and that casual pairing is where the trouble sits. Pseudoephedrine already pushes heart rate and blood pressure up, and 44 of the 62 supplements on file act as st…”

About Isopropylnorsynephrine
What is Isopropylnorsynephrine?
- Weight loss and fat burning
- Pre-workout energy and stimulation
- Topical fat reduction (creams and gels)
- Appetite suppression
- Athletic performance
Isopropylnorsynephrine is a synthetic stimulant chemically related to synephrine, marketed mainly in weight-loss and pre-workout supplements. It has very little human safety or effectiveness research, and as a stimulant it may raise heart rate and blood pressure, so caution is strongly advised. Talk with a pharmacist or doctor before using any product that contains it.
About Pseudoephedrine
