ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS
Why this applies to Famotidine, Ibuprofen
Famotidine, Ibuprofen falls under ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS — the group Kiwi interacts with.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Duexis combines ibuprofen (an anti-inflammatory pain reliever) with famotidine (added to protect your stomach). Here's the thing about kiwi: lab studies suggest it can make your platelets a little less sticky, meaning it may slightly slow down clotting. Ibuprofen already does something similar on its own and can irritate the stomach lining, so stacking the two together could, in theory, nudge up your bleeding risk a bit.
To be honest, this is mostly theoretical, based on how kiwi behaves rather than real-world cases, and eating a kiwi or two as food is unlikely to cause trouble. Just watch for signs like easy bruising, dark stools, or stomach upset, and check with your pharmacist or doctor if you notice anything or take Duexis daily.
