ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS
Why this applies to Ibuprofen, Oxycodone
Ibuprofen, Oxycodone falls under ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS — the group Kiwi interacts with.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
This combo pill (Combunox) pairs ibuprofen, an anti-inflammatory pain reliever, with oxycodone, an opioid. The piece that matters here is the ibuprofen. Like other NSAIDs, ibuprofen can make your platelets a little less sticky and can be rough on the stomach lining, so it already nudges up your bleeding risk a bit on its own.
Kiwi has been shown in some research to make platelets clump together less easily too. Stacking these together could, in theory, add up and raise your chance of bruising, nosebleeds, or stomach irritation. Honestly, this is a theoretical concern based on how kiwi behaves, and eating kiwi as a normal food is very unlikely to cause trouble. Large supplement doses are the bigger question. If you notice unusual bruising or any black, tarry stools, check in with your pharmacist or doctor.
