Here's the gist: kombucha may have a mild blood sugar lowering effect of its own. When you pair that with saxagliptin (Onglyza), which already nudges your blood sugar down by boosting your body's insulin response after meals, the two could in theory add up and push your numbers lower than expected.

I want to be honest about how strong this concern is. The evidence here is theoretical and comes mainly from animal studies, not solid human research. On its own, saxagliptin rarely causes low blood sugar, so the practical risk is small. Still, if you drink kombucha regularly, it's worth watching for shakiness, sweating, or dizziness, and mentioning it to your pharmacist or doctor so they can keep an eye on things.
