ANTIBIOTIC DRUGS
Why this applies to Cephapirin
Cephapirin falls under ANTIBIOTIC DRUGS — the group Lactiplantibacillus Pentosus interacts with.
Lactiplantibacillus pentosus preparations usually contain live and active organisms. Therefore, simultaneously taking antibiotics might kill a significant number of the organisms. Tell patients to separate administration of antibiotics and L. pentosus preparations by at least two hours.
Interaction has not been documented in well-controlled studies, however, the interaction has been demonstrated in some small human studies or in controlled animal studies in conjunction with multiple case reports..
Here's the simple version: Cephapirin (Cefadyl) is an antibiotic, and antibiotics don't tell the difference between unwanted bacteria and the 'friendly' kind in your probiotic. So if you swallow your Lactiplantibacillus pentosus at the same time as your cephapirin dose, the antibiotic can kill off a good chunk of those live probiotic organisms before they ever do their job. This works against the probiotic, not your treatment, your cephapirin still fights infection just fine.
An easy fix is spacing them out. Most pharmacists suggest taking the probiotic at least two hours apart from the antibiotic. This is based on how these products work rather than hard clinical studies, so it's a sensible habit, not a worry. When in doubt, run your timing by your pharmacist.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Cephapirin page
“Cephapirin (Cefadyl) is an injectable antibiotic for bacterial infections, and its supplement list calls for real vigilance because of two major-rated entries, both herbs capable of injuring the kidneys on their own. Siberian cocklebur has documented kidney harm, and asarabacca is frequently contaminated with aristolochic acid, a compo…”
