Liotrix, T4/T3 falls under THYROID HORMONE — the group Lemon Balm interacts with.

Theoretically, lemon balm might interfere with thyroid hormone replacement therapy.
In vitro, constituents of lemon balm extract bind to thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH), preventing TSH receptor-binding and leading to the inhibition of TSH-stimulated adenylate cyclase activity. In animals, lemon balm extract has been shown to decrease levels of circulating TSH and inhibit thyroid secretion.

Liotrix (Euthroid) is a combination of two thyroid hormones, T4 and T3, that you take to replace what your thyroid isn't making enough of. The concern with lemon balm here is mostly a theoretical one. In lab dishes and animal studies, compounds in lemon balm seemed to interfere with thyroid signaling and lower TSH and thyroid activity. We don't have good human studies showing this actually weakens your thyroid medication.

Still, if you take regular concentrated lemon balm supplements, it's worth a heads-up. In theory, anything that tugs on thyroid balance could make it harder to keep your levels steady, which might bring back symptoms like fatigue, feeling cold, or weight changes. An occasional cup of lemon balm tea is unlikely to be a problem. Just let your pharmacist or doctor know what you're taking, and keep up with your routine thyroid blood tests.
