Here's the thing to keep in mind with this pairing. Lemon balm has a mild calming, sedative quality, and metoclopramide (Reglan) can already make you feel drowsy, foggy, or tired on its own. Put the two together and those sleepy effects may simply add up, so you could feel more wiped out, slowed down, or dizzy than you'd expect from either one alone.

This isn't about lemon balm changing how your body breaks the drug down. It's just an overlap in effect, and the evidence is fairly light (mostly small studies and animal data), so for many people a calming cup of tea won't cause trouble. Still, if you take both, go easy until you know how you feel, and check with your pharmacist or doctor, especially before driving.

Lemon balm is a gentle, lemon-scented mint-family herb traditionally used to ease stress, support sleep, and calm digestion, and topically for cold sores. Early studies are promising but generally small, so the evidence is limited. It is usually well tolerated for most adults, but pregnant or breastfeeding people should check with a doctor or pharmacist first.

About Metoclopramide

What Is Metoclopramide Used For?

Brand names: Reglan, Metoclopramide Injection, Octamide

Metoclopramide tablets are used in adults for two main conditions. First, they treat symptomatic gastroesophageal reflux (GERD — when stomach acid backs up into the esophagus) in people who haven't gotten relief from standard treatments. Second, they ease symptoms of diabetic gastroparesis, a condition where nerve damage from diabetes causes the stomach to empty too slowly.

Treatment is meant to be short-term. For acid reflux, it's used for 4 to 12 weeks. For diabetic gastroparesis, it's generally used for 2 to 8 weeks. It is not recommended for children due to serious safety concerns.
