Here's the simple version: lemon balm has a mild calming, sleepy effect of its own. Aripiprazole lauroxil (Aristada) is a long-acting antipsychotic injection that can also cause drowsiness. Put them together and those calming effects may stack up, so you could feel more tired, foggy, or lightheaded than usual. This isn't about lemon balm changing how your body breaks the drug down. It's just two things nudging in the same sleepy direction.

Honestly, the evidence here is on the thin side and mostly theoretical, so for many people a cup of lemon balm tea won't be a big deal. Still, since your injection stays in your system for weeks, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before adding a concentrated lemon balm supplement, especially if you notice extra grogginess.

Aripiprazole injection is used to treat schizophrenia and to provide maintenance treatment for bipolar I disorder in adults. Different injectable products carry these approvals.

Abilify Asimtufii is approved for the treatment of schizophrenia in adults and as maintenance monotherapy for bipolar I disorder in adults. Aristada is approved for the treatment of schizophrenia in adults, with Aristada Initio used specifically to help start Aristada therapy.
