Limosilactobacillus fermentum preparations usually contain live and active organisms. Therefore, simultaneously taking antibiotics might kill a significant number of the organisms. Tell patients to separate administration of antibiotics and L. fermentum preparations by at least two hours.

Here's the simple version: erythromycin is an antibiotic, and antibiotics don't tell the difference between unwanted bacteria and the friendly probiotic bugs in your Limosilactobacillus fermentum supplement. If you swallow them at the same time, the erythromycin can kill off a good chunk of those live cultures before they ever get to work. So this isn't about the antibiotic becoming dangerous or stronger. It's really about your probiotic doing less for you.

The easy fix is timing. Most pharmacists suggest spacing the two by at least two hours so they aren't fighting each other in your stomach. Keep taking your full erythromycin course as prescribed, and check with me or your doctor if you have questions. This advice is based on how these products work, not on strong human studies, so consider it sensible caution rather than a red alert.
