Mycophenolate Mofetil falls under IMMUNOSUPPRESSANTS — the group Lychee interacts with.

Theoretically, lychee might reduce the effectiveness of immunosuppressant drugs.
In vitro, flavonoids extracted from lychee show immunostimulant effects. So far, this effect has not been reported in humans.

Here's the thinking behind this one. Mycophenolate (CellCept) works by dialing down your immune system so it won't attack your transplanted organ. In lab dishes, certain plant compounds (flavonoids) from lychee have shown the opposite tendency, gently nudging immune cells to be more active. In theory, that could work against what mycophenolate is trying to do.

I want to be straight with you: this is purely a test-tube idea. It has never actually been reported in people, and enjoying lychee as a fruit is a different thing than taking concentrated lychee extracts. Still, because protecting a transplant is so important, please don't start a lychee supplement without first checking with your transplant team or pharmacist. The whole fresh fruit in normal amounts is far less of a concern.

What Is Mycophenolate Injection Used For?

Brand name: CellCept

Mycophenolate mofetil is used to prevent the body from rejecting a transplanted kidney, heart, or liver. It is always used alongside other immunosuppressant medicines, not on its own.

CellCept Intravenous (the injectable form) is specifically for transplant patients who are temporarily unable to take oral medication. It is given by IV infusion and is meant to bridge the gap until the patient can switch to an oral form of CellCept.
