Lychee + Hydrocortisone

Lychee has a minor interaction with Hydrocortisone. Theoretically, lychee might reduce the effectiveness of immunosuppressant drugs.

Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
IMMUNOSUPPRESSANTS
Why this applies to Hydrocortisone
Hydrocortisone falls under IMMUNOSUPPRESSANTS — the group Lychee interacts with.
In vitro, flavonoids extracted from lychee show immunostimulant effects. So far, this effect has not been reported in humans.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the gist with lychee and hydrocortisone. One job hydrocortisone often does is calm down an overactive immune system, whether that's for arthritis flares, severe allergies, lupus, or other inflammatory conditions. The concern on file is that lychee may gently nudge the immune system in the opposite direction, which could theoretically work against what your medication is trying to do.
I'll be straight with you: this is a very weak, theoretical idea. It comes from lab studies where lychee flavonoids stimulated immune cells in a dish. It has never actually been seen in real people, and it's rated as a minor interaction. Enjoying lychee as a fruit is very unlikely to matter. If you're thinking about concentrated lychee extract supplements, just run it by your pharmacist or doctor first.

About Lychee
What is Lychee?
- General nutrition and antioxidant support
- Digestive complaints (traditional use)
- Cough and sore throat (traditional use)
- Blood sugar support (preliminary)
- Weight and metabolic support (preliminary)
Lychee is a sweet tropical fruit that is nutritious and a source of vitamin C and antioxidant plant compounds. While the fruit is a healthy food for most people, supplement-strength extracts have only limited research behind specific health claims, and eating large amounts of unripe lychee on an empty stomach has been linked to dangerous low blood sugar in undernourished children. Talk to your pharmacist or doctor before using lychee extracts for any health condition.

Hydrocortisone Is Linked to Lower Levels of 8 Nutrients
Natural Medicines records Hydrocortisone as a medicine that can lower these. This is not an interaction with Lychee — it is a separate effect of the medicine, and it is a reason some people are advised to supplement rather than to avoid one:
