Here is the gist with lychee and prednisone. Prednisone is a steroid that calms down an overactive immune system, which is why it helps with things like arthritis flares, asthma, lupus, and bad allergic reactions. The concern on file is that certain plant compounds in lychee (flavonoids) have, in lab dishes only, nudged the immune system in the opposite direction. In theory, that could work against what prednisone is trying to do and make your symptoms harder to control.

I want to be honest though: this has only been seen in test tubes, never in actual people, so it is rated minor. Enjoying lychee as a fruit is very unlikely to be a problem. If you are thinking about concentrated lychee extract supplements, just run it by your pharmacist or doctor first.
