Here's the simple version: Insulin aspart (Fiasp) already lowers your blood sugar, that's its whole job. In animal studies, Madagascar periwinkle also seemed to push blood sugar down on its own. So the worry is that stacking the two could lower your sugar more than expected, raising your odds of hypoglycemia. That can show up as shakiness, sweating, a racing heart, confusion, or feeling lightheaded.

I want to be honest about the strength of this, though. This concern comes only from lab and animal research, not human studies, so it's theoretical at this point. Insulin aspart isn't a prodrug, periwinkle doesn't change how it's processed, the two simply may add up. The raw plant is toxic anyway and shouldn't be self-used. Please check with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them, and keep monitoring your numbers.

Madagascar periwinkle is a flowering plant famous as the natural source of important chemotherapy drugs (vincristine and vinblastine), but the raw plant itself is toxic and not safe to use as a home remedy. What Is Insulin Aspart (rDNA Origin) Injection Used For?

Brand name: Fiasp

Insulin aspart is used to improve blood sugar (glucose) control in people with diabetes mellitus. It is approved for both type 1 and type 2 diabetes in adults, and for diabetes mellitus in pediatric patients.

Insulin Aspart Protamine and Insulin Aspart Mix 70/30 is a pre-mixed product that combines a rapid-acting and an intermediate-acting insulin aspart. It is approved to improve blood sugar control in adult patients with diabetes mellitus. It is not recommended for treating diabetic ketoacidosis, and because its ratio of rapid-acting to intermediate-acting insulin is fixed, it does not allow for separate mealtime versus background dose adjustments.
