Here's the simple version. Muraglitazar is a blood-sugar-lowering medication, and Madagascar periwinkle has been shown in animal studies to lower blood sugar too. So the worry is that pairing them could push your glucose lower than intended, which can lead to hypoglycemia (shakiness, sweating, dizziness, confusion, or feeling faint).

I want to be honest about the strength of this concern: it's theoretical, based only on diabetic rats, not human studies. So I'm not ringing alarm bells. That said, the raw periwinkle plant is genuinely toxic and isn't a safe home remedy regardless. If you're managing diabetes, please loop in your doctor or pharmacist before adding any herbal product, and keep an eye on your blood sugar readings.
