Here's the simple version. Inhaled insulin (Exubera) is a fast-acting insulin you breathe in to lower your blood sugar before meals. Madagascar periwinkle, in animal studies, also seemed to lower blood sugar on its own. So the worry is that stacking the two could push your sugar down too far, leading to hypoglycemia. That can show up as shakiness, sweating, a fast heartbeat, confusion, or even passing out if it gets severe.

I want to be honest about the strength of this, though. This is only based on diabetic rats, not people, so it's a theoretical concern, not a proven one. On top of that, the raw plant is genuinely toxic and isn't safe to take at home. Please don't change your insulin on your own. Talk with your pharmacist or doctor first, and check your blood sugar closely if you ever combine them.
