Here's the short version: Madagascar periwinkle may have a mild blood sugar lowering effect of its own. We only know this from animal studies (diabetic rats), so it's a theoretical concern in people, not something proven. Still, the idea is simple. Tirzepatide (Mounjaro) already works hard to bring your blood sugar down, and stacking another glucose-lowering substance on top could nudge you too low.

If your blood sugar dips, you might feel shaky, sweaty, dizzy, hungry, or confused. Tirzepatide also commonly causes nausea, so adding an herb that the plant itself is genuinely toxic isn't a great idea anyway. Please don't start or stop anything on your own. Check with your pharmacist or doctor first, and keep an eye on your home glucose readings if you ever do combine them.

What Is Tirzepatide injection Used For?

Brand names: Mounjaro, Zepbound

Zepbound is used alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity to reduce excess body weight and maintain that weight loss long term in adults with obesity, or in adults who are overweight and have at least one weight-related health condition. Zepbound is also approved to treat moderate to severe obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) in adults with obesity.

Zepbound should not be combined with other tirzepatide-containing products or with any GLP-1 receptor agonist.
