Here's the simple version: motherwort can have a mild calming, sleepy effect of its own. Felbamate already works on your brain to quiet down seizure activity, and like many seizure medicines it can leave you feeling drowsy, dizzy, or a bit foggy. Put the two together and those tired, sluggish feelings could add up, so you might feel more sedated than usual.

I want to be honest about the evidence here. This is a theoretical concern based on how each one works, not something proven in careful human studies, so it may not affect you much at all. Still, if you do try both, go slowly and don't drive until you know how you feel. Please check with your doctor or pharmacist first, especially since felbamate is a serious medication that needs close monitoring.

About Felbamate

What Is Felbamate Used For?

Brand name: Felbatol

Felbamate is not a first-line seizure medication. It is used only when a person's epilepsy has not responded well enough to other treatments and the seizures are severe enough that the serious risks of this drug are considered acceptable.

In adults, felbamate can be used alone or alongside other antiepileptic drugs (AEDs) to treat partial seizures (seizures that start in one part of the brain), with or without spreading to become a full seizure. In children, felbamate is used as an add-on treatment for both partial and generalized seizures linked to Lennox-Gastaut syndrome, a severe form of childhood epilepsy. Felbatol is specifically labeled for these uses in both adults and children.
