Triamcinolone falls under CORTICOSTEROIDS — the group Oleander interacts with.

Theoretically, using oleander with prolonged corticosteroid therapy can increase the risk of oleander toxicity.
Oleander contains cardiac glycosides. Concomitant use of corticosteroids with oleander can increase the therapeutic and adverse effects of long-term corticosteroid use due to potassium depletion and electrolyte imbalance.

First things first: I would steer clear of oleander entirely. It is a poisonous plant, and there is no safe at-home dose. But here is how it specifically tangles with triamcinolone. When you take a steroid like triamcinolone for a while, it can slowly push your potassium levels down. Oleander's heart-affecting compounds become much more dangerous when potassium runs low, so combining the two could raise the chance of serious, irregular heartbeats.

This concern is theoretical, based on how these substances behave rather than on real patient reports, so I do not want to scare you. Still, given how toxic oleander is, please do not use it, and check in with your pharmacist or doctor before adding any supplement to your triamcinolone.

What Is Triamcinolone Used For?

Triamcinolone is available in many forms — injections, creams, ointments, nasal sprays, dental pastes, and eye injections — each approved for specific uses. Injectable forms given into muscle are used when oral steroids aren't an option, covering severe allergies (like asthma flares, severe skin reactions, drug reactions, and serum sickness), serious skin diseases, certain endocrine (hormonal) disorders, and more.

Injections given directly into a joint (intra-articular) or soft tissue help with conditions like rheumatoid arthritis, gout flares, bursitis, and tendon inflammation. Injections into skin lesions (intralesional) treat conditions such as keloids, alopecia areata, and psoriatic plaques. Triesence (an ophthalmic injection) is specifically indicated for eye conditions like uveitis and temporal arteritis, and for visualization during eye surgery. Topical creams, ointments, lotions, and sprays relieve itching and inflammation from corticosteroid-responsive skin conditions. Dental paste forms (Oralone, Kourzeq) treat painful mouth sores from injury. Nasal sprays temporarily relieve hay fever and upper respiratory allergy symptoms such as runny nose, sneezing, and congestion.
