Oleander + Prednisolone
Prednisolone brand names: Prednisolone, Sterane, Delta Cortef, Cortalone, Pred Forte, and others.
Oleander has a moderate interaction with Prednisolone. Theoretically, using oleander with prolonged corticosteroid therapy can increase the risk of oleander toxicity.

Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
CORTICOSTEROIDS
Why this applies to Prednisolone
Prednisolone falls under CORTICOSTEROIDS — the group Oleander interacts with.
Oleander contains cardiac glycosides. Concomitant use of corticosteroids with oleander can increase the therapeutic and adverse effects of long-term corticosteroid use due to potassium depletion and electrolyte imbalance.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
First, the big picture: oleander is genuinely dangerous and is not something I'd ever recommend swallowing, in any form, supplement or tea. On its own it can cause life-threatening heart rhythm problems. So this isn't really about a gentle herbal add-on.
Here's how it ties to prednisolone specifically. Prednisolone is a steroid, and over long stretches it tends to lower your potassium. Oleander's heart-acting chemicals become much more toxic when potassium runs low. So the worry is that steroid-driven potassium loss could make oleander's heart effects worse, raising the risk of dangerous, irregular heartbeats. This concern is theoretical, based on how the two work, not on solid studies. Still, please don't combine them, and talk with your pharmacist or doctor before using any oleander product.

These are real questions from readers, answered by the pharmacists at HelloPharmacist — written by a person, not generated from a database. From our pharmacist’s overview on the Prednisolone page
“Prednisolone quiets inflammation and dampens the immune system, and its list of 202 interacting supplement and herbal ingredients, four of them rated major, deserves a careful read rather than a shrug. Grapefruit can push prednisolone levels up by blocking its breakdown, St.”

About Oleander
What is Oleander?
- Heart failure (traditional)
- Cancer (investigational)
- Skin conditions
- Asthma (folk use)
- Pain relief (folk use)
Oleander is a highly poisonous ornamental plant, and every part of it can cause life-threatening heart and nervous system effects, even in small amounts. There is no proven safe dose for self-use, and serious poisonings and deaths have occurred from teas, extracts, and accidental ingestion. We strongly advise against using oleander as a supplement.
About Prednisolone
What Is Prednisolone Used For?
Brand names: Prednisolone, Sterane, Delta Cortef, Cortalone, Pred Forte, Solupred
Oral prednisolone (tablets, oral solutions, syrup and orally disintegrating tablets) is used to control inflammation or an overactive immune system. Depending on the product, this includes severe allergic conditions, skin diseases, hormone (endocrine) disorders, ulcerative colitis, Crohn's disease, certain blood disorders, and rheumatic (joint and muscle) conditions.
Prednisolone eye drops (Pred Forte, Pred Mild, prednisolone acetate and prednisolone sodium phosphate ophthalmic products) treat steroid-responsive inflammation of the front parts of the eye, including the eyelid, conjunctiva, cornea and sclera. Pred Mild is for mild to moderate noninfectious allergic and inflammatory eye disorders. Not every product is approved for every use.

Prednisolone Is Linked to Lower Levels of 8 Nutrients
Natural Medicines records Prednisolone as a medicine that can lower these. This is not an interaction with Oleander — it is a separate effect of the medicine, and it is a reason some people are advised to supplement rather than to avoid one:
