Ublituximab-xiiy falls under IMMUNOSUPPRESSANTS — the group Picrorhiza interacts with.

Picrorhiza seems to have immunostimulating activity. Theoretically, picrorhiza may interfere with immunosuppressant therapy. Immunosuppressant drugs include azathioprine (Imuran), basiliximab (Simulect), cyclosporine (Neoral, Sandimmune), daclizumab (Zenapax), muromonab-CD3 (OKT3, Orthoclone OKT3), mycophenolate (CellCept), tacrolimus (FK506, Prograf), sirolimus (Rapamune), prednisone (Deltasone, Orasone), and other corticosteroids (glucocorticoids).

Here's the idea behind this one. Briumvi (ublituximab) is an infused antibody that works by lowering certain immune cells (B cells) to calm multiple sclerosis. Picrorhiza, on the other hand, seems to stimulate the immune system in lab and animal studies. So in theory, the herb could push in the opposite direction of your medicine and slightly blunt how well it keeps your MS in check.

I want to be honest about the evidence though. This is based on test-tube and animal work, not real patients on Briumvi, so it's very much a theoretical concern. Briumvi isn't a prodrug, and Picrorhiza isn't changing how your body clears it. Still, since this is serious therapy, I'd loop in your neurologist or pharmacist before adding Picrorhiza rather than starting it on your own.

What Is Ublituximab-xiiy injection Used For?

  • Ublituximab-xiiy injection is used to treat adults with various forms of multiple sclerosis (MS; a disease in which the nerves do not function properly and people may experience weakness, numbness, loss of muscle coordination, and problems with vision, speech, and bladder control), including :

    • clinically isolated syndrome (first episode of neurologic symptoms)

    • relapsing-remitting forms (course of disease where symptoms flare up from time to time)

    • secondary progressive forms (course of disease where relapses occur more often).

  • Ublituximab-xiiy injection is in a class of medications called monoclonal antibodies. It works by decreasing the action of immune cells that may cause nerve damage.
