In vitro, purple nut sedge inhibits platelet aggregation. Theoretically, purple nut sedge might increase the risk of bleeding when used with antiplatelet or anticoagulant drugs.
Some anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs include aspirin, clopidogrel (Plavix), dalteparin (Fragmin), enoxaparin (Lovenox), heparin, ticlopidine (Ticlid), warfarin (Coumadin), and others.

Here's the gist with Dristan (which combines ibuprofen and pseudoephedrine) and purple nut sedge. The ibuprofen part already has a mild blood-thinning effect because it slows down how your platelets clump together to form clots. In lab dishes, purple nut sedge seems to do something similar. So in theory, pairing them could nudge your bleeding risk up a bit, think easier bruising, nosebleeds, or stomach irritation that lingers.

I want to be honest though: this is based only on test-tube work, not real people, so it's more of a caution than a proven problem. If you take blood thinners, use this combo regularly, or have an upcoming procedure, run it by your pharmacist or doctor first. Don't change anything on your own.
