Nortriptyline falls under ANTICHOLINERGIC DRUGS — the group Purple Nut Sedge interacts with.

In vitro, purple nut sedge dose-dependently inhibits acetylcholinesterase (AChE). Theoretically, concurrent use of anticholinergic drugs and purple nut sedge might decrease the effectiveness of purple nut sedge or the anticholinergic agent.
Some anticholinergic drugs include atropine, benztropine (Cogentin), biperiden (Akineton), procyclidine (Kemadrin), and trihexyphenidyl (Artane).

Here's the gist with nortriptyline (Pamelor): this antidepressant has anticholinergic effects, meaning it dampens a brain and body chemical called acetylcholine. That's part of why it can cause dry mouth, constipation, blurry vision, and trouble urinating. Purple nut sedge, in lab dishes, seems to do the opposite by helping keep acetylcholine around. So in theory, the two could partly cancel each other out.

Honestly though, this is very early science, just test-tube and animal work, not real people. We don't know if a typical supplement dose does anything meaningful in your body. I wouldn't lose sleep over it, but since nortriptyline needs steady levels to treat your depression well, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before adding this herb.
