In vitro, purple nut sedge inhibits platelet aggregation. Theoretically, purple nut sedge might increase the risk of bleeding when used with antiplatelet or anticoagulant drugs.
Some anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs include aspirin, clopidogrel (Plavix), dalteparin (Fragmin), enoxaparin (Lovenox), heparin, ticlopidine (Ticlid), warfarin (Coumadin), and others.

Here's the thing to know about pairing iloprost (Ventavis) with purple nut sedge. Iloprost not only relaxes blood vessels in your lungs, it also has a mild effect on your platelets, the cells that help your blood clot. On its own, that can already make you a bit more prone to bruising or bleeding.

In lab dish studies, purple nut sedge appeared to slow platelets down too. So stacking the two together could, in theory, add up and raise your bleeding risk a little, think easier bruising, nosebleeds, or bleeding that takes longer to stop. I want to be honest though: this is based only on test-tube research, not real people, so it's far from certain. Still, since iloprost is serious therapy, please run any supplement past your doctor or pharmacist first.
