Gliclazide falls under ANTIDIABETES DRUGS — the group Quassia interacts with.

In animals, quassia extract reduced levels of fasting glucose. Theoretically, quassia might have additive effects when used with antidiabetes drugs. This might increase the risk of hypoglycemia in some patients. Monitor blood glucose levels closely.
Some antidiabetes drugs include glimepiride (Amaryl), glyburide (DiaBeta, Glynase PresTab, Micronase), insulin, metformin (Glucophage), pioglitazone (Actos), rosiglitazone (Avandia), and others.

Here's the gist for gliclazide, which is a sulfonylurea that lowers your blood sugar by prompting your pancreas to release more insulin. In animal studies, quassia extract on its own seemed to bring fasting blood sugar down a bit. So the worry is simple: if quassia nudges your glucose lower while gliclazide is already doing that job, the two could stack up and push you into hypoglycemia (low blood sugar).

Watch for the usual low-sugar signs with gliclazide: shakiness, sweating, dizziness, a racing heart, hunger, or confusion. I want to be honest though, this is theoretical and based only on lab and animal data, not solid human studies. If you'd like to try quassia, check with your pharmacist or doctor first and keep a closer eye on your home glucose readings.
