Quercetin can modestly decrease blood pressure in people with mild hypertension. Theoretically, it might have additive blood pressure lowering effects when used with antihypertensive drugs.

Uniretic combines two blood pressure medicines: hydrochlorothiazide (a water pill) and moexipril (an ACE inhibitor). Here's the thing to know about quercetin: in some studies, it nudged blood pressure down a little on its own. So when you pair a quercetin supplement with a medicine already lowering your pressure, the two can add up and push it lower than you want.

If that happens, you might feel dizzy or lightheaded, especially standing up quickly, and you could notice fatigue or even feel faint. This is mostly theoretical and based on limited research, and small amounts from foods like apples and onions are very unlikely to matter. Concentrated supplement doses are the real question. Before adding quercetin capsules, please check with your pharmacist or doctor so they can keep an eye on your numbers.

Theoretically, concomitant use might increase the effects and adverse effects of OAT3 substrates.

In vitro research shows that quercetin is a strong non-competitive inhibitor of OAT3, with half-maximal inhibitory concentration (IC50) values as low as 0.75 mcM. So far, this interaction has not been reported in humans.

Uniretic combines hydrochlorothiazide (a water pill) with moexipril (a blood pressure medicine). Your kidneys use a little transporter called OAT3 to help move hydrochlorothiazide out of your body. In lab dish studies, quercetin can block that transporter. The idea is that if it's blocked, more of the diuretic could stick around, which might mean a bit more of its usual effects, things like extra urination, dizziness, lightheadedness, or shifts in potassium and sodium.

Here's the honest part: this has only been seen in test tubes, never reported in actual people, so it's theoretical. Everyday food amounts of quercetin (apples, onions, tea) are very unlikely to matter. Before starting a high-dose supplement, just run it by your pharmacist or doctor.

Your blood pressure pill Uniretic pairs hydrochlorothiazide (a water pill) with moexipril (an ACE inhibitor). Your kidneys use a doorway called OAT1 to move some of these medicines out of your body. In lab dishes, quercetin can block that OAT1 doorway, which in theory could let a little more drug hang around than usual.

If that happened, you might feel the blood-pressure-lowering effects more strongly: think dizziness, lightheadedness when standing, or extra urination. Here is the reassuring part though. This is only seen in test tubes and animal work, never reported in real people, and food amounts of quercetin are unlikely to matter.
