Rabdosia Rubescens + Haloperidol
Haloperidol brand name: Haldol.
Rabdosia Rubescens has a moderate interaction with Haloperidol. In vitro research shows that oridonin, a constituent of Rabdosia rubescens, induces cytochrome P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) enzyme.

Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES
Why this applies to Haloperidol
Haloperidol falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Rabdosia Rubescens interacts with.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the gist for Haloperidol (Haldol). Your liver uses several enzymes to clear haloperidol, and CYP3A4 is one of them. Lab and animal studies hint that oridonin, a compound in Rabdosia rubescens, may speed up (induce) CYP3A4. If that happens in people, your body could clear haloperidol a bit faster, leaving lower blood levels and possibly a weaker effect. For someone relying on it to control psychosis, tics, or agitation, that could mean symptoms creeping back.
I want to be honest: this is only test-tube and animal data, and it has never been reported in actual patients, so the real-world risk is uncertain and probably small. Still, before combining them, please check with your pharmacist or doctor rather than adjusting anything yourself.
What These Ratings Mean
Every interaction above is graded three ways — here’s the key to each label.
Clinically significant. Avoid the combination, or use only under close professional supervision.
Usually worth avoiding or managing — may need monitoring, a dose change, or timing apart.
Generally not serious. Be aware of it and mention it to your pharmacist.
- LikelyWell-controlled human studies have demonstrated the likely existence of this interaction.
- ProbableInteraction has not been documented in well-controlled studies, however, the interaction has been demonstrated in some small human studies or in controlled animal studies in conjunction with multiple case reports.
- PossibleInteraction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
- UnlikelyInteraction has been demonstrated in animal or in lab research but has been shown not to occur in humans.
- AHigh-quality meta-analysis (quantitative systematic review).
- BCase-control study.
- CConsensus.
- DAnecdotal evidence.

- Traditional cancer support
Rabdosia rubescens is a Chinese herb traditionally used for sore throats, inflammation, and infections, and its compound oridonin has drawn lab interest for possible anticancer effects. About Haloperidol
What Is Haloperidol Used For?
Brand name: Haldol
Haloperidol treats schizophrenia and other psychotic disorders. Uses depend on the product.
Haloperidol tablets and oral solution are also used to control tics and vocal utterances of Tourette’s Disorder in children and adults. They are used for severe behavior problems and hyperactivity in children, but only after psychotherapy or non-antipsychotic medicines have failed. One haloperidol injection product (Haloperidol, intramuscular) is also labeled for Tourette’s Disorder. Haloperidol decanoate injections (including Haldol Decanoate) are for schizophrenia only.
