Here's the gist for Tagrisso (osimertinib). Your body uses a kind of cellular pump called P-glycoprotein to help move this drug around and clear it out. In lab dish studies, Rabdosia rubescens seemed to slow that pump down. If that happened in people, more osimertinib could hang around in your system, which in theory might mean stronger side effects like diarrhea, mouth sores, rash, nail changes, or tiredness.
I want to be honest about the strength of this: it's only test-tube research, not human studies, so we really don't know if it matters in real life. But osimertinib is serious cancer therapy, and we don't want surprises. Please don't start this herb without first checking with your oncologist or pharmacist.

CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES

Here's the concern with pairing this herb and your lung cancer medication. Your body clears osimertinib (Tagrisso) using an enzyme called CYP3A4. Lab research suggests that oridonin, a compound in Rabdosia rubescens, may speed up that enzyme. If that holds true in people, your osimertinib could get broken down and cleared faster, leaving less of it in your blood to fight the cancer. With a drug this important, a weaker effect is the last thing you'd want.
I want to be honest though: this is based only on test-tube and animal studies, and it has never been reported in actual patients. So it's a theoretical worry, not a proven one. Still, because your medication matters so much, please run this past your oncologist or pharmacist before adding the herb.

What Is Osimertinib Used For?
Brand name: Tagrisso
Tagrisso is used to treat adults with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) whose tumors have specific EGFR mutations — either an exon 19 deletion or an exon 21 L858R mutation — confirmed by an FDA-approved test. It is used in several settings: after surgery to reduce the risk of cancer returning (adjuvant therapy), for locally advanced stage III NSCLC that has not progressed after chemoradiation, and as a first-line treatment for locally advanced or metastatic NSCLC (including in combination with pemetrexed and platinum-based chemotherapy).
Tagrisso is also approved for adults with metastatic NSCLC that carries a specific resistance mutation called T790M, when the cancer has stopped responding to another EGFR-targeted therapy.
