Liraglutide falls under ANTIDIABETES DRUGS — the group Reishi Mushroom interacts with.

Theoretically, reishi mushroom might have additive effects with antidiabetes drugs.
Animal research suggests that reishi mushroom decreases blood sugar. However, in patients with type 2 diabetes, taking reishi mushroom does not reduce fasting glucose levels, and its effects on glycated hemoglobin are inconsistent.

Here's the gist if you take reishi mushroom alongside your Victoza (liraglutide). The concern is simple addition: reishi may nudge blood sugar down a little, and liraglutide already lowers it. Stack the two and, in theory, your numbers could dip lower than expected, meaning more chances for shakiness, sweating, dizziness, or feeling foggy.

That said, I want to keep this in perspective. The blood-sugar-lowering effect of reishi mostly shows up in lab and animal studies. In people with type 2 diabetes, it hasn't reliably dropped fasting glucose, and its effect on A1C has been all over the map. Liraglutide isn't a prodrug, so reishi isn't changing how your body activates it. If you'd like to try reishi, just check in with your pharmacist or doctor first and keep an eye on your readings.

What Is Liraglutide Injection Used For?

Brand name: Victoza

The label text provided describes Saxenda (liraglutide injection) for chronic weight management. It is used along with a reduced-calorie diet and more physical activity.

Saxenda is for adults with obesity (BMI 30 or higher), or overweight (BMI 27 or higher) with at least one weight-related condition such as high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes or abnormal cholesterol/fats (dyslipidemia). It is also for children 12 and older who weigh over 60 kg and have obesity by pediatric BMI cut-offs.
